Questions people ask

If your question is not here, tell us and we will add it.

Who can register?
Anyone aged 15 or over in any African Union country. If you are under 18 a parent or guardian confirms first.
Does it cost anything?
No. Registering is free and every programme listed here is free to apply to. There is no membership fee and no charge for a certificate.
I am 16. What does my parent have to do?
Give their name and their own email address during registration. They receive a six-digit code, and you enter it to confirm they agree. It has to be their address and a different phone number from yours.
Which countries is it open in?
All 54 African Union member states. Individual programmes may be open only to particular countries, and each one says so on its page.
What happens after I apply?
The organiser reviews applications after the deadline. You can see the status of every application you have made in your account, and you are told when it changes.
What is the certificate worth?
It records that you completed a specific programme with a specific organiser, and it carries a serial number. Anyone can check that number on this site and see the programme, the organiser and the date.
What do you do with my details?
They fill in your applications so you do not retype them, and the organiser of a programme you applied to can see your application. You can download or erase everything at any time from your account.
Why are there no programmes right now?
Because we have only just opened. Tell us the country and the kind of programme you are looking for and we will write to you when one opens that matches.
Someone asked me to pay. Is that normal?
No, and please tell us. No programme on AYC may charge to apply, and nobody from AYC will ever ask you for money.
